| Master Programme in Business Administration: Finance and Accounting (60/120 ETCS credits) |
|
This is an ideal programme for those who would like to work as an accountant, financial manager, controller or financial analyst. You can choose the one-year or the two-year master programme. A Master in Business Administration guarantees an education that meets international expectations. Education level: Advanced level *The online application service at studera.nu opens about one month before application deadline. Students choose courses in business administration and other subjects to create their own degree. For a specialisation in accounting, a combination with judicial courses such as commercial or tax law is a good choice. A financially oriented degree could include courses in economics, mathematics or statistics. The one-year Master's degree requires courses in accounting and/or finance 15 ECTS cr., research methods 15 ECTS cr., and a degree project 15 ECTS cr. The two-year Master's degree requires an additional course in business administration of 15 ECTS cr., preferably accounting and/or finance, and a degree project of 30 ECTS cr. (including or replacing the one-year master thesis) The remaining degree requirements of 15 ECTS cr. and 30 ECTS cr. respectively are optional and can be studied abroad. There are no set examination periods, and generally no final exam at the end of a semester, an academic year, or a complete study programme. Examination usually takes place at the end of each course, module, or unit. Throughout the programme students have contact with external guest lecturers and partner companies. Degree projects are normally carried out in conjunction with one or several companies or other organisations. A Degree of Master of Science in Business and Economics, 60 ECTS cr. or a Degree of Master of Science in Business and Economics, 120 ECTS cr. is awarded upon completion of the programme. For examination and assessment regulations, see under the heading "Learning outcomes" in the programme study plan. A corporate economist or a financial analyst both need knowledge of accounting and finance. This programme is designed to prepare for different jobs in corporations and public agencies and also to give students the opportunity to create their own degree by including elective courses. The one-year master added to a bachelor's degree makes a total of a four-year study period. Since business students generally have at least four years' training, the new one-year master is a competitive necessity in the job market, and very likely a qualification requirement in international corporations. It is also a requirement for authorisation as an auditor. Studies at the advanced level make you eligible for doctoral studies in, for instance, Business Administration. The subject in which your doctor's degree will be awarded will depend on your previous studies. You also need to meet the prerequisites for doctoral studies of the subject chosen. |
