| Master Programme in Business Administration: Service Management (60/120 ETCS credits) |
|
More and more economists work with service production in service companies or public agencies, or in other businesses in which service is of growing importance. The Service Management programme is a result of extensive multidisciplinary research in this field at Karlstad University. You can choose the one-year or the two-year master programme. A Master in Business Administration guarantees an education that meets international expectations. Education level: Advanced level *The online application service at studera.nu opens about one month before application deadline. The design of the programme gives students the opportunity to shape their own profile in service management. Students are encouraged to include other subjects and other areas of business studies. The one-year Master's degree requires the courses service management 15 ECTS cr., research methods 15 ECTS cr., and a degree project 15 ECTS cr. The two-year Master's degree requires an additional course in business studies of 15 ECTS cr., preferably service management, and a degree project of 30 ECTS cr. (including or replacing the one-year master thesis). The remaining degree requirements of 15 ECTS cr. and 30 ECTS cr. respectively are optional and can be studied abroad. There are no set examination periods, and generally no final exam at the end of a semester, an academic year, or a complete study programme. Examination usually takes place at the end of each course, module, or unit. Throughout the programme students have contact with external guest lecturers and partner companies. Degree projects are normally carried out in conjunction with one or several companies or other organisations. A Degree of Master of Science in Business and Economics, 60 ECTS cr. or a Degree of Master of Science in Business and Economics, 120 ECTS cr. is awarded upon completion of the programme. For examination and assessment regulations, see under the heading "Learning outcomes" in the programme study plan. The programme develops the knowledge and skills required for different jobs in companies, especially service companies, and public agencies. Since business students generally have at least four years training, the new one-year master is a competitive necessity in the job market, and very likely a qualification requirement in international corporations. Studies at the advanced level make you eligible for doctoral studies in, for instance, Business Administration. The subject in which your doctor's degree will be awarded will depend on your previous studies. You also need to meet the prerequisites for doctoral studies of the subject chosen. |
